15 arrested in Delhi over posters critical of PM Narendra Modi | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: At least 15 folks have been arrested and a number of FIRs have been lodged in numerous elements of the capital after posters criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dealing with of the Covid-19 immunisation programme have been plastered throughout town.
The posters studying “Modiji humare bachon ki vaccine videsh kyu bhej diya (PM why did you send vaccines of our children to foreign countries?)” have been pasted in a number of elements of town, they stated.
The police have been alerted in regards to the presence of posters on Thursday evening following which senior officers of Delhi Police have been alerted. The police have registered 17 FIRs thus far beneath sections 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Indian Penal Code and different related sections together with part 3 of the Prevention of Defacement of Property Act throughout numerous districts of the Delhi Police, the officers stated.
A senior police officer stated, “More FIRs are likely to be registered if further complaints are received in this regard. As of now, an investigation is underway to ascertain as to on whose behalf these posters were being put up at various places across the city and accordingly further action will be taken in the matter.”
Giving particulars, police stated three FIRs have been registered in northeast Delhi and two individuals have been arrested from there. Three FIRs have been registered in the west and one other three FIRs in outer Delhi, they added.
Two FIRs have been registered in the Central half of town and 4 individuals have been arrested. Two FIRs have been registered in Rohini and two individuals have been arrested, whereas one FIR was registered in east Delhi and 4 individuals arrested. One FIR was registered in Dwarka and two individuals have been arrested, police stated.
One FIR was registered in north Delhi and one individual was arrested. He claimed that he was given Rs 500 to stick these posters, they stated. Another case was registered in Shahadra whereby police have recovered the CCTV footage of the incident and try to nab the individual concerned in the act, police added.
