AURANGABAD: All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday mentioned his celebration will stage agitations throughout Maharashtra to demand reservations for Muslims in the state.
Owaisi spoke to reporters after attending a convention on the current situation of Muslims in Maharashtra organised by Dua Foundation and the Centre for Development Policy and Practice in Aurangabad.
“The courtroom has admitted that fifty castes in the Muslim neighborhood needs to be granted reservation. However, whereas all political events are supporting the Maratha neighborhood, nobody is talking about reservation for Muslims,” the AIMIM chief claimed.
“We will hold agitations in Maharashtra to press for our demand for reservations for Muslims. We want the state government to bring an ordinance in the Nagpur Assembly session for reservations,” he mentioned.
The Maratha neighborhood ought to maintain protests for reservation and the AIMIM will be part of them, he mentioned.
“The Maratha community in the state has been silent for many days. They should agitate and we will also join them,” Owaisi mentioned.
The AIMIM chief additional condemned the violence that passed off at Maharashtra’s Amravati and mentioned an inquiry needs to be carried out into the incident.
