Army, BSF exchange sweets with Pakistan counterparts on Eid-ul-Adha | India News – Times of India

JAMMU: Indian Army and BSF on Wednesday exchanged sweets and pleasantries with Pakistani counterparts alongside International Border (IB) and the Line of Control (LoC) throughout Jammu area to mark celebrations of Eid-ul-Adha.
PRO Defence Jammu Lt Col Devender Anand stated, “Indian Army and Pakistan Army exchanged sweets on the occasion of Eid-Al-Adha at the Line of Control (LoC) at Poonch-Rawalakot Crossing Point and Mendhar-Hotspring (Tattapani) Crossing Point in Poonch district.
“The ceremony is seen as an enhanced confidence building measure in the backdrop of ongoing ceasefire between both the countries,” Col Anand added.

He stated, “’Greetings and best wishes of peace and harmony were conveyed to the Pak Army representatives from Indian Army.
“The gesture was appreciated by both the Armies and is expected to further promote goodwill and mutual trust,’ Col Anand said.
Similarly the Border Guards – the troops of Border Security Force (BSF) and Pak Rangers on Wednesday also exchanged sweets to mark Eid celebrations along International Border in Jammu region.
BSF spokesman said, “The festival of Eid was celebrated everywhere overwhelmingly by Border men on Indo- Pak Border.”
“On this event troops of BSF and Pakistan Rangers greeted one another and exchanged sweets and greetings alongside IB in Hiranagar, Samba, Ramgarh, R S Pura, Arnia, Pargwal Sectors of International Border of Jammu,” said the spokesman.
He said that this is the first exchange of sweets between the two border guarding forces after the Pulwama incident.
“There was no Cross Border Shelling since lengthy and farmers on each facet of the border have been capable of perform their farming actions peacefully,” he stated.
