Centre announces Rs 1,300 crore package for Northeast to tackle pandemic | India News – Times of India

GUWAHATI: The Centre will present a monetary package of Rs 1,300 crore to the Northeastern states to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, Union well being minister Mansukh Mandaviya introduced on Tuesday.
Reviewing the Covid-19 scenario with well being ministers of all of the Northeastern states in Guwahati, Mandaviya mentioned the fund is being offered to buy medicines, improve oxygen provide, improve beds – common, ICU and kids – at native and district-degree hospitals.
“The fund will also be utilised to speed up the vaccination drive by the states in the region. The government of India is committed to provide enough vaccines to the states,” he advised a press convention following the assessment assembly.
On the extended second wave of the pandemic within the Northeast, the minister mentioned the height within the area was seen a lot later than the remaining of India and so it was taking time to decline.
“In the last two weeks, the cases have started declining in the Northeast and this is a good sign. All the states took various steps to contain the second wave and it is ending now,” Mandaviya mentioned.
