NEW DELHI: After Anna University, two extra universities — Kolkata’s Jadavpur University and Delhi’s Jamia Hamdard—are to be dropped from the record of 20 Institutions of Eminence (IoE). The determination was taken on the final University Grants Commission’s assembly in July because the West Bengal authorities failed to talk its funding dedication and due to “management issues” at Jamia Hamdard.
As per the minutes of the assembly held on July 1, 2021, the suggestions of the empowered professional committee (EEC) to launch Jadavpur University and Jamia Hamdard had been to be be “forwarded to the ministry of education for further necessary action/ direction.”
The IoE scheme was rolled out to empower 20 increased instructional establishments (HEIs) to assist them turn into world class instructing and analysis establishments by the UGC in 2017. As of April 2021, 12 HEIs have already been issued the tag of IoE.
