NEW DELHI: An earthquake of magnitude 5.4 struck close to the Sikkim-Bhutan border, about 25km East-Southeast of capital Gangtok at 8:50pm on Monday.
The quake occurred at a depth of about 10km.
Tremors had been felt in a number of japanese states together with Assam, Bihar and West Bengal, other than Sikkim.
There was panic with individuals speeding out of their houses because the quake struck.
There isn’t any report of harm to life and property. Further particulars are awaited.
