Supreme Court Judges: For first time, 9 Supreme Court judges take oath in one go | India News – Times of India


NEW DELHI: Nine new judges, together with three ladies, had been on Tuesday administered oath of workplace as judges of the Supreme Court, taking its power to 33.
It is for the first time in the historical past of the apex courtroom that 9 judges took oath of workplace at one go.
Chief Justice of India N V Ramana administered the oath of workplace to the brand new judges in a swearing-in ceremony held in the auditorium of the Supreme Court’s extra constructing complicated.

With the swearing-in of the 9 new judges, the power of the Supreme Court would rise to 33, together with the CJI, out of the sanctioned power of 34.
The 9 new judges who could be administered oath of workplace as apex courtroom judges embody Justice Vikram Nath, Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari, Justice Hima Kohli and Justice B V Nagarathna.

Besides them, Justice C T Ravikumar, Justice M M Sundresh, Justice Bela M Trivedi and senior advocate and former Additional Solicitor General P S Narasimha would even be administered oath of workplace by the CJI.
Justice Nagarathna, the daughter of former CJI E S Venkataramiah, is in line to develop into the first lady CJI in September 2027.
