Tripura Says Found Delta Plus Cases In State, Centre Says Not True

The centre stated no Delta Plus variant of coronavirus has been present in Tripura


A day after the Tripura authorities stated 90 per cent of samples despatched for genome sequencing examined constructive for Delta Plus variant of the coronavirus, the centre as we speak stated there is no such thing as a case of this extremely infectious variant in Tripura.

Doctors within the state quoting studies of a West Bengal-based nationwide institute on Friday 138 instances of Delta Plus variant have been present in Tripura.

A press release by the Health Ministry stated 152 samples have been despatched from Tripura to the National Institute of Biomedical Genomics in West Bengal for complete genome sequence (WGS).

“The results of the WGS revealed that three samples had tested positive for B.1.1.7, eleven samples had tested positive for B.1.617.1 (Kappa) and 138 samples had tested positive for B.1.617.2 (Delta),” the assertion stated.

“There was no case of Delta Plus reported among the aforementioned lot of sequenced samples,” the assertion stated.

On Friday, Tripura had stated it has discovered 138 instances of Delta Plus, 10 instances of Delta and three instances of UK variant.

Tripura Health Department sources stated they’ve sought clarifications from the Health Ministry in regards to the coding of Delta Plus, Delta and different variants of coronavirus.
